CATALINA ESCOBAR

Catalina is a civil society leader and social entrepreneur with 22 years of experience in social sector, digital development and international cooperation. For six years, she worked with the World Bank managing web related projects that promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, at the Development Gateway and as part of the Intranet team. She co-founded MAKAIA and led it since its inception, transforming an idea into an organization that has served thousands of non-profits and social projects in Latin America. In 2017 she transitioned to the role of Chief Strategy Officer with the goal of designing the long-term sustainability plan for MAKAIA. Catalina has a Mechanical Engineering degree, an MBA, a specialization in International Cooperation for Development, and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management. She has lived in Costa Rica, France, USA and Colombia.
