Project: Sciency
Basic Human Needs: Education
In 7th grade, Shreyans struggled to transition from India’s standard curriculum to an international curriculum his school offered. After countless hours with teachers and tutors, he realized he needed to connect the concepts to real life. By understanding his learning style, he vastly improved his grades. In 2018, Shreyans formed Sciency to share the techniques he had learned with other students. Sciency is a digital educational platform designed to facilitate students’ learning processes. Every Sciency lesson is manually written clearly and concisely by students, and is presented with easy access to worksheets, student tips and strategies, along with images and videos made by professionals. Sciency also provides free webinars, live tutoring and online classes that cover a range of topics. Shreyans hopes students don’t just master concepts, but also the importance of their use in the world. Sciency has helped 20,000+ students in 24 countries across the globe to learn, and estimates reaching an additional 30,000+ students by the end of 2021. Shreyans is currently developing a mobile app that provides free mathematical conceptual videos without requiring the Internet. He also plans to partner with ad buyers and use 100% of the revenue to fund education in disadvantaged communities around the world, starting in slum areas of Chennai. Shreyans was a finalist for the 2021 National Child Achievement Award in Social Service, which is the highest achievement for youth in India. Even though he has been widely applauded for his work, it is students’ improvement from using Sciency that drives him.
