JANA LEVENE

Currently based in Google’s New York City office, Jana has led business development for (i) Area120, Google's newly announced in-house startup incubator, in which most of her work has targeted Bangladesh and India (ii) X, Alphabet's moonshot factory that has launched self-driving car, Internet-powered balloon and clean energy kite projects and (iii) Jigsaw, an incubator that builds technology to solve complex global security challenges and serves as an advisory group to Alphabet's Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt. Previously, Jana was based in Google's Singapore office leading new market development for countries in the early stages of leveraging the Internet to drive economic growth and social prosperity. Jana's work ranged from catalyzing growth in Internet penetration through community building, to helping businesses digitize and grow online, to influencing policy making to support a free and open Internet. Jana’s priority countries included Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia and Nepal.

Jana is a board member at Code to Inspire, a non-profit organization that has built Afghanistan’s first coding school for girls in Afghanistan and is committed to developing technical literacy and creating safe employment opportunities in computer science and technology for women in Afghanistan.

Jana is a mentor to the non-profit organization We Are Family Foundation's Global Teen Leaders, who are working on international projects addressing issues related to basic human needs, including food, water, health, shelter, safety, education and the environment.Jana holds an MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore, where she won first and second place in INSEAD’s two entrepreneurship investment pitch competitions. Additionally, Jana holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University in Canada, during which time she studied Mandarin and International Business at Peking University in China and Central European University in Hungary, respectively.
