Sam Mayer
Sam is the Vice President, Public Affairs at the END Fund. He is responsible for the organization’s global external engagement, including advocacy, innovative financing, and communications that advance the NTD platform and attract additional resources and attention to the NTD sector.
Previously, Sam was Executive Director, International Programs at the M∙A∙C AIDS Fund, where he oversaw a $45 million grant portfolio that supported 130 HIV/AIDS service organizations across 50 countries. There, he spearheaded public private partnerships with the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), and with the Mayors of New York, Paris, and Berlin among others.
Prior to that, Sam oversaw global fundraising for a leading sport-for-development organization, Grassroot Soccer, as their Chief Development Officer. He was also previously Chief Operating Officer for Millennium Promise, and Global Operations Manager for the Clinton Health Access Initiative where he co-designed, implemented, and published results from a landmark HIV costing analysis in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Sam holds a Master’s degree with distinction in Development Economics from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, and a BA in Economics from the University of Strathclyde in his native Scotland. He lives in Long Island City, NY with his wife and son, and enjoys competing in triathlons and marathons.
