UNITED STATES, 20

Project: UrbED
Focus Area: School to Prison Pipeline / Student Advocacy

At age 20, Tamir is a speaker, reformer and an outspoken advocate for public education. He is the co-founder and chief of UrbEd Inc. – a student-led nonprofit that advocates for quality and efficient urban education.

His work has been featured in the Washington Post, TIME Magazine and Newsy.

Tamir is a proud education nerd. A product of the School District of Philadelphia, he is now a junior at the American University in Washington D.C. At American, Tamir is part of the award-winning Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program, while studying Strategic Communications with a minor in Education.
