Project: Africa Matters Amabassadors Program
Pronouns: She/Her

Led by young black womxn, Africa Matters seeks to dispel the notion that Africa is the dark continent of no hope by empowering and upskilling our youth boom, and running physical and virtual programs to positively change the narrative. The Africa Matters Ambassadors Program (AMAP) aims to break the curse affecting the future of Africa, and turn the youth boom into an economic opportunity. AMAP is a 1-year blended-learning African leadership development program which provides successful applicants with online training, skills development, cross-continental network building, mentorship from industry leaders across Africa and the implementation of community impact projects.

What social and cultural factors led to the creation of the Africa Matters Ambassadors Program?

African youth face a myriad of socio-economic, political, and cultural factors contributing to their continued inequality and economic injustice. Socio-economic factors include unemployment, poor education systems, the lack of demand-led skilling, gender inequality and poverty. These are factors that reinforce the mentality that Africa’s youth boom is an economic burden rather than an economic opportunity.

We have always been changemakers.
