Project: Understanding Existing Examples to Imagine Better: Examining LGBTI+ Rights Legislations of Different Countries (UniKuir)

Founded in Ankara by a group of young activists, UniKuir fights against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in all fields, especially in universities and related fields. Through their project, UniKuir address anti-LGBTQ+ campaigns and stand against systematic, intersectional discrimination and marginalization by setting concrete targets for the LGBTQ+ struggle before the upcoming elections and organizing political participation within this framework.

How is UniKuir addressing the systemic inequity Queer youth face?
In Turkey, Queer people, especially Queer youth, are made the subject of systematic, intersectional discrimination, marginalization and hatred. Due to the anti-Queer campaign carried out by the state, the conditions of the country regarding Queer rights are getting worse day by day. With racism in the context of refugee Queer people, this situation has come to threaten Queer people’s right to life. This project plans to fight the anti-Queer campaign and stand against systematic, intersectional discrimination and marginalization by setting concrete targets for the Queer struggle before the upcoming elections and organizing political participation within this framework.
