Project: Community Sound Tapestry
Pronouns: She/Her

Community Sound Tapestry uses sound and acoustic ecology to capture the synchronous evolution of cultural traditions, oral histories and the surrounding natural environment as they are impacted by climate change, policy, gentrification and development. They use their recordings for cultural sustainability and research that repels these threats. The project seeks to activate community and strengthen intergenerational and interpersonal bonds using family land as a hub for community education, creation, commerce, celebration, wildlife and support.

I am grateful for the histories I got from my late grandparents. I can only hope that my and others’ descendants will appreciate the cultural history and environmental knowledge documented in these recordings. Our community relies on spoken word and oral histories.
