LENIN SEMBO OYUGA
Lenin is a visible leader in Technology, Strategy & Business Development, across a range of industries and verticals globally. He is passionate about leading organizations to leverage technology, and has used his various leadership roles to influence tech policy and make technology relevant worldwide.
Lenin is currently the Telco Industry Business Leader for Africa at Oracle, driving their transformation and partnerships across the continent. He was previously the Region Head for Refinitiv, formerly the Financial & Risk sector of Thomson Reuters, where he oversaw the entire region of East Africa & Indian Ocean Islands. Prior to that, he was the Regional Business Manager at Eseye, where he handled the IOT technology adoption in Africa, including the deployment of Mkopa.
Lenin was recognized as one of Business Daily’s Top 40 under 40 Business Leaders in East Africa in both 2017 and 2018, is a Board advisor at Cherehani Africa, and a founding Board member of the East Africa Chapter of the 30% Club, both of which work to foster a diverse pool of entrepreneurial talent on the continent.
From 2017 to 2019, Lenin was also the co-chair of the World Economic Forum, leading financial inclusion in East Africa. Additionally during those years, he sat on the American Chamber of Commerce East African Chapter, driving the market and technology frontier in the region.
Lenin is a panelist and speaker on CIO Africa, speaking about big data, blockchain, disruptive technology, analytics and how technology is shaping the continent. He is also a Business Mentor for the YALI (Young Africa Leadership Program), where he mentors many individuals across East Africa on early career settlement and selection.
