LÍGIA STOCCHE BARBOSA

Lígia is the Deputy Chancellor of Partnerships, Technology and Innovation for the Department of Education of Recife. She works with the Education Chancellor to establish partnerships for the Education Department and oversees strategic projects related to Technology and Innovation.

Lígia has a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering, but her main topic of interest has always been social issues. While dividing her time between classes and research in the laboratory, she co-founded an NGO called Mapa Educação along with friends from college. Later, she gave up a PhD in nanoparticles for the treatment of brain diseases to fully devote herself to work with Education. She worked at the Lemann Foundation for 5 years, with Public Management and Public Education. In addition, she was a Visiting Scholar at Teachers College in Columbia University, in order to broaden her knowledge in Multicultural Education and Anthropological Research in Education.
