MEGHAN HUSSEY

Meghan is Director, Global Development and Government Relations at Special Olympics International HQ. In her role, she works to grow Special Olympics' partnerships with governments and the global development sector around the world. She first joined Special Olympics in 2016 on the Global Youth and Education team, where she worked to expand the use of inclusive sports and youth leadership programming to teach social-emotional skills and develop positive attitudes towards persons with disabilities. Meghan is the sibling of a Special Olympics athlete herself and grew up participating in Unified Sports, giving her a very personal connection to her work.
Previously, Meghan was an International Fellow and then International Field Director at Mosaic International, where she worked with grassroots NGOs in East Africa and Eastern Europe to develop community-based services for children and youth with intellectual/developmental disabilities. In 2012-2013, Meghan was a Fulbright Scholar at Beijing Normal University, where she did research on Chinese programs for autistic teens and adults. In 2014-2015 she was a Mitchell Scholar at Trinity College Dublin, where she received an MSc. in Global Health and published research on disability rights in South Africa. She holds a BA magna cum laude in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Meghan is based in Washington DC.
