MICHAEL O'NEAL

Michael O’Neal has served with OneWorld Health since its founding in 2009. OneWorld Health exists to provide quality, accessible healthcare to communities in need. The organization operates facility-based medical centers in East Africa and Central America that have provided medical care to more than 450,000 patients. Each center is staffed by trained nationals and utilizes a revenue-generating business model for operational sustainability. In 2010, Mr. O’Neal moved to Masindi, Uganda to implement the organization’s pilot project. One year later OneWorld Health opened a comprehensive medical campus. The organization’s business model enabled the center to become financially self-sustaining within 13 months of opening. Mr. O’Neal has provided direction and leadership to the organization as it has grown to include 12 self-sustaining healthcare projects, 1 mobile medical unit, and a tele-health platform in East Africa and Central America with 5 additional projects in various stages of implementation. Mr. O’Neal has a MA in International Development from Eastern University and completed his undergraduate degree at the College of Charleston. He has dedicated his professional life to serving the least advantaged of our world, living and working in East Africa and Central America over the past two decades. Mr. O’Neal currently serves as the Executive Director of OneWorld Health. Mr. O’Neal was named a 2015 “Health Care Hero” and was chosen as a Praxis Fellow to represent OneWorld Health as one of ten organizations nationally with a sustainable and scalable model providing social impact. He is actively involved in numerous socially driven organizations providing strategic advice based on his international experience and executive leadership. He is a consistent guest lecturer at numerous universities and medical schools and speaks regularly on the topic of sustainable health impacts in the developing world. He resides in Charleston, SC with his wife and their two children.
